Lose Weight Successfully

Billions of dollars are spent each year on diet products and unfortunately the obesity problem in the United States is only getting worse. Why do so many people invest in weight loss programs and pills that simply do not work? Why are many people only putting on more weight instead of losing it?

There are even prescription diet pills that are supposed to help but oftentimes don't. The diet industry is prospering but the only thing people are losing is their money. Every month there are more "experts" out there who claim to know the secrets to losing weight and unfortunately it is often just the same rehashed rhetoric.

Many people simply aren't informed enough to know how to lose weight successfully. Those who are informed are often not motivated enough to stick with a good plan and then there are those who simply starve themselves and before they know it, they're underweight and have an eating disorder. What can be done to help? Are there any easy solutions?

Successful weight loss obviously isn't easy or more people would be doing it. What people need to understand is that there are no "quick weight loss solutions". If you want to lose weight, you'll have to start out slowly and learn to cut out food that is bad for you a little bit at a time; make sure that you replace the bad food with healthy food though. Don't starve yourself; it'll only make things worse. If you decide to start out your diet by cutting out candy bars, then replace them with a granola bar, if next you decide to cut down on ice cream, replace it with fruits.

By eating five, small healthy meals a day, you will increase your metabolism and feel much better. You will find that you will have more energy than ever before and may even feel inspired to work out!
Be mindful of what you drink as well though. If you must have caffeine, try to cut it down to only one cup a day. Make sure you drink at least eight to ten glasses of water each and every day as drinking copious amounts of water is conducive to weight loss. Many people underestimate the importance of water because not only is it ideal for weight loss, it helps clear skin impurities as well.

Protein shakes and green tea are also good to drink and green tea is said to be of great benefit to weight loss and overall health. It is also considered an appetite suppressant, although you should still eat 5 small meals throughout the day.

If you're wondering what type of foods you can eat, consider things like tuna, wheat bread, fruits, vegetables, boiled eggs, turkey, salmon, yogurt, granola bars, nuts, seeds and baked chicken. You will obviously want to avoid foods that have a lot of grease and sugar in them.

To summarize then, if you can manage to cut down a little bit of bad food at a time and exchange it for healthier food, eat five small, healthy meals a day, and drink a lot of water, you will find yourself on the right path to losing weight! It takes a lot of motivation, but it can be done if you take things slowly.

Weight Loss Tips, Tricks, and Tactics - Part 1

I personal lost 60 pounds in 2003. Here are some tactics I used to lose the weight.

Eat every three hours. This will keep your blood sugar stable. Try to eat real food at least three times a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. In between your food meals take a good meal replacement shake or bar.

Never eat a carbohydrate by itself. This is basically all sugar. When you eat a carbohydrate by itself there is a sudden increase in sugar in the body. This causes the body to release insulin. However, the body releases too much insulin because it thinks more sugar is coming. The insulin basically grabs the sugar/carbohydrate and stores it to fat for use at some other time. Since your body released too much insulin there is not enough sugar to support the brain function. That is why you feel tired or sluggish. So you're fatter and dumber.

Watch the gums and mints. Many of these little gums and mints contain calories, sugars, and everything else that is not good for you. Read the labels, if it has sugar in it do not eat it.

Eat foods that have 30% or less, calories from fat. Everyone is on this big no carbohydrate craze. However, did you know that 1 gram of carbohydrate contains 4 calories, 1 gram of protein contains 4 calories, and 1 gram of fat contains 9 calories? There are over twice as many calories in a single gram of fat, than in a protein or carbohydrate.

To find out how many calories are from fat check the label. The label will list the total calories and then list how many calories are from fat. If there are 100 total calories, and there are 70 calories from fat, that's 70%, too high.

Give yourself one reward day to eat and drink whatever you want. You worked hard all week, reward yourself.

Alcohol is a converted to a sugar. Save it for your free day. If you do drink, it might also be helpful to take hydroxycitric acid capsules about 30 minutes before drinking. Hydroycitric acid is from the herb Garcinia Cambogia. This interferes with the enzyme that converts excess sugars into triglycerides, lessening the likelihood the alcohol will be stored as fat.

How Our Bodies Go the Extra Mile to Keep Us Staying Healthy

Our bodies are truly a miracle when you consider how they operate in such a complicated and miniaturized way to stay healthy. Nano technology at its best would be a more accurate description.

o Consider we have 100 trillion cells in our body and 1,000 trillion bacteria. We are outnumbered 10 to 1. We want to do everything we can to keep those bacteria friendly so we can stay healthy.
o To stay healthy we have over 3,000 different types of enzymes that must be present in each of our 100 trillion cells to work properly. I am already getting tired just thinking about this.
o Our large and small intestines combined are about 30 feet long. In a lifetime we shed about 40 lbs of dead skin.
o Our kidneys move 400 gallons of blood through them every day so we can stay healthy.
o Six and a half cups (1.5 Liters) of saliva are produced every day.
o Our stomachs can hold about 6 1/2 cups (1.5 liters) of food and water at one time.
o It takes about six hours to digest a high fat meal and about 2 hours for a high carb meal.
o Every ten days our taste buds are completely replaced.
o By age 60 we have permanently lost about half of our taste buds!
o Half of our enzymes are produced by our pancreas and the other half must come from what we eat to stay healthy. (has to be raw since cooking always kills all the enzymes)
o Enzymes are used for healing and digestion. With a fever over 104 degrees F all the enzymes are destroyed, making it extremely difficult to stay alive and heal the illness. Enzymes also become inactive in an acid environment, which is why almost all diseases thrive in an acid environment and are almost non existent in an alkaline body. It takes an alkaline body to stay healthy. Our body will take calcium from our bones just to keep it alkaline. We need to make certain we do not deplete our calcium further and take proper steps to provide sufficient calcium so we can stay healthy.

We have about 100,000 miles (that's 100,000 miles) of blood vessels in our bodies. This includes arteries, veins and capillaries. The vase majority of these 100,000 miles consist of the capillaries. We have about 40 Billion capillaries.

Just How Big Is a Billion, A Trillion Anything, Or Even 100,000 Miles?

Consider our earth is 25,000 miles around its circumference. This means our blood vessels could circle the earth 4 times.

Our heart beats 100,000 a day. It takes 30 years to beat one billion times. Our body part works harder than our heart to keep us staying healthy. If you earned $ 100,000 a day, it would take 30 years to make one billion dollars. Bill Gates makes considerably more than this.

Our DNA is twisted in a spiral. It is so small, yet if one DNA strand was untwisted and stretched out, it would reach 6 feet long. If our entire DNA in our one body was stretched out it would reach to and from the earth to the moon 8000 times! That's a lot of DNA to have in our body. It must be really really small. Yet as small as it is, when opened up it is measurably long enough to reach 8000 times back and forth to our moon. This seems totally impossible.

No part of our body works harder than our enzymes to keep us staying healthy.

We can help our enzymes by supplementing them with plant enzymes that were discovered in the 1930's. Our enzymes need help from co-enzymes, which are the B vitamins. The B vitamins work with our enzymes to release energy - which is why all those energy drinks and bars contain B vitamins.

One final bit of amazement. One red blood cell travels throughout our entire body in just one minute so we can stay healthy! Can we do our part to help our body keep us staying healthy? Let's not do things that add to our body's existing burdens.

Smart Snacking - Snacking For Health

Snacking has a bad reputation of being unhealthy, but it's not an inherently bad thing. Snacking is a natural urge, and it's best to respond to this impulse accordingly. Problems only arise when snacking becomes excessive, replaces meals, and is centered on highly processed, empty calories. These eventually add up, and your body stores the extra energy you might consume in the form of fat. Making sure that you're eating healthy, wholesome snacks in moderation is the best way to regulate your appetite between meals, while also giving your body the right calories it needs to feel good and perform at optimal levels.

Eat More Fruits and Vegetables

One type of food that is largely absent from many of our diets is raw food. Raw food is beneficial to your health because it works the digestive system and is more slowly absorbed by the body, keeping blood sugar levels in check. Processed foods on the other hand - which most of us are used to by now - quickly pass through the digestive tract, are absorbed by the body, and cause a shock to the system that can spike blood sugar levels. This results in the spike in energy we feel when you have, say, a Clif Bar. You feel great for an hour or so, and then slump down again. This creates the desire to grab another snack, to once again boost energy levels temporarily.

By eating more raw fruits and vegetables, you'll be giving your body valuable vitamins and nutrients, limit excessive calories, and provide yourself with a constant, high energy level. Try putting out a bowl of fresh fruits on the counter or next to your door. When you're heading out for another busy day, try to grab one or two for later in the day. Try apples, oranges, bananas, kiwis, grapefruits, or pomegranates. Always keep fresh vegetables on hand that are good for snacking. Carrots, broccoli, salads, or radishes all work great in this capacity.

Have a Schedule

Rather than acting on every impulse to snack, set a loose schedule for yourself. This can be having a light snack between breakfast and lunch, and then later between lunch and dinner. You can be even more exact, making specific times. Snacking healthy actually helps keep your metabolism at a proper level and keeps you feeling good and healthy. That said, feeling hungry is only natural from time to time throughout the day. We should not always feel completely satisfied - it's simply not natural. Three meals with a three snacks throughout the day is usually enough to get your 2000-2500 calories you need to maintain good health.

Drink Liquids

Drinking water or hot tea throughout the day can keep your mouth and hands busy, especially if you work a desk job. It will provide a little cushion in your stomach if you're hungry, and will stave off the need to eat more snacks.
